CORe Digest

October 6th 2006

My Fellow Students,

So I'm trying something new this week ... that's right, the Digest is branching out into uncharted territory! Now, Olin students can be lazier than ever ... no need to actually read the Digest -- just listen to it! What follows is an assortment of over 17 people reading announcements. Some are long, and some are short; some well-written and executed, and some with a little bit of humor thrown in. So, be sure to check out the Digest in audio form:

Listen to the CORe Digest! (~16mins)

Publication Guidelines PSA:

A bunch of students came to last week's GA meeting to talk with Uncle Rod about proposed publication guidelines applied to student publications. The GA has created a committee to draft guidelines that CORe will probably adopt. If you want more information or want your input to be heard, talk to Nick Hays -- he's the chair.

Monotype Printmaking Workshop
Babson's art club is planning a monotype workshop today at noon, for both beginners and more experienced artists.  The workshop will be held at Babson / Trim 215.  Please RSVP with Danielle if you'd like to attend.

A Monotype is made by painting with ink onto a thin sheet of lexan and running the plate and paper through a press to produce your final image. A single image is produced from the plate, but the residual ink left on the plate can be reworked or simply reprinted as a "ghost" image.

Materials will be provided and all experience levels are welcome. - So if you've done a little printmaking Great, if you've done none - No Problem, hope to see you there. A still life will be set up to work from, but you may also bring photographs or drawings to use as source material.  The monotype process is a great way to get to know about printmaking. We have a great Printing Press and some gorgeous inks just waiting for you to try them out!
