Thanks for all your time and energy.

To everyone else, have a great weekend,

Cory Doctorow Seminar next Thursday
Author, activist, blogger speaks at Olin!
If you already know who Cory Doctorow is, w00t! Join us for his talk, “0wned: How Hollywood Plans on Making the Future Subservient to the Past,” in the Olin Auditorium next Thursday, February 16th, at noon. In true Doctorow spirit, we are planning on recording and sharing his talk, so bring your enthusiasm and questions. If you’d like a bag lunch, please e-mail debbie.chachra@olin.edu before Wednesday.

If you don’t know who Cory Doctorow is, here are some reasons why we are excited that he is speaking at Olin:

He’s a blogger. Cory is one of the people behind the eclectic blog Boing Boing, whose recent posts have included an update on Chinese dissident bloggers and details about a race between CD-pulling snails and ADSL.

He’s an activist. Cory is a Fellow of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and writes and speaks extensively about digital rights.

He’s an author. An award-winning author, Cory has written three novels and many short stories, one of which was included in Best American Short Stories 2005.

Go check out Boing Boing, read some of his articles, download a free copy of

one of his

novels, or subscribe to his podcast. We’d love to see you next Thursday.

Special bonus events: Cory is also doing public readings and lectures at Harvard and MIT next week, as well being a Special Guest at Boskone next weekend.

The lunches will be held on Monday at noon on the mezzanine of the dining hall. The discussion is intended to be casual in order to make everyone as comfortable as possible and to allow everyone to learn from each other.
